A raccoon that recently bit a dog in the West Camp Hill area of Weathersfield VT has tested positive for rabies. Luckily the dog is up to date on its rabies shots. Cathy Sullivan Weathersfield’s animal control officer says feral cats are also a problem in carry the disease. Pet owners should be aware that wild animals that may bite their pets might be carrying rabies. Sullivan says the best way to prevent your pet from an attack is to keep it in sight. A cat in Cornish NH was found to have rabies in late December, and last May a rabid woodchuck bit a dog on Main Street in Claremont.
