Newport Circuit Court will remain on Main Street for another four years. The Selectboard unanimously voted to authorize Town Manager Paul Brown to resign the lease for another four years. The lease will have a zero percent increase the first year, one percent for years two and three, and one and a half percent increase in the fourth year. Town Manger Paul Brown says renewing the lease will keep the court in town. Having the district court in town saves on travel expense and time for the police department, and is convenient for Newport residents.
