Newport Selectboard Expresses Concern about Loss of Parking Space

parking spacesThe first public hearing for the reconfiguration of Sunapee and Main Streets brought concerns about losing parking places in Newport. The proposed plan presented by Doug King of N.H. D.O.T. would take away four spaces on Park Street as well losing some spaces in the County parking lot. Selectman Todd Frazzle wants to keep parking space loss to a minimum. Other concerns expressed were a straight angle of an egress onto Park Street and visitors not being able to stop in front of the information booth. Selectman Gary Nichols comments on the importance of drivers being able to stop for a moment and learn about Newport. .
King will take the input from the Selectboard and public return with modifications.
