Claremont’s outdoor pool received a reprieve from demolition after City Council members voted 6-3 against Vic Bergeron’s motion to authorize the city manager to demolish outdoor pool. The motion was made after a presentation by Thomas A. Scarlata of Bargmann Hendrie and Archetype said the cost of repairs to the pool without upgrades would be about the $466,600 dollars. Jeff Barrette who spearheaded “Save Our Outdoor Pool” and gather over 300 signature this summer could attend the meeting but sent an email to Councilman Nick Koloski stating his displeasure with the report. Voting to demolish the pool were Vic Bergeron, Roger Formidoni, and Kyle Messier. Brian Rapp a resident of Ward II said the pool was an asset and the town should think about future growth, and offered to start a fundraising campaign for the repairs. The City Council will have the demolition of the pool on the Council agenda in January.
