Dartmouth Hitchcock Doctor Named Pediatrician of the Year

Dr.EdwardsThe New Hampshire Pediatric Society (NHPS) chose William H. Edwards, MD, FAAP, as Pediatrician of the Year. Dr. Edwards is professor and vice chair of Pediatrics, in addition to being Neonatology section chief at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Recent scientific evidence now supports Edwards’ supposition of years ago, suggesting that premature babies who spend more time with their parents actually have better brain growth during this critical phase of brain development. “So it’s more than just a nicety for parents being participants,” he says. “There actually may be a very measurable beneficial impact on improving the neurological development of premature infants.”
