In March of 2013 Claremont voted to bond 12.6 million for Stevens High school’s renovations. On Friday at the groundbreaking ceremony for the start of the renovations was held and City and School official were present for the event. Claremont School Superintendent Middleton McGoodwin thanked everyone for their commitment to improving the condition of the high school. McGoodwin also noted much of the work took place prior to his arrival. The superintendent praised the students for their academic successes and wanted them to take part in the ceremony, asking Chloe Kennison, a Junior at Stevens to take his hard hat and shovel for the ground breaking. The Mayor encouraged students to reach out to the population of homeless students in school by doing random acts of kindness or helping them with their studies.
