Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency toured sections of the city on Tuesday that were damaged in last week’s storms. They were in today to assess the damages, said City Manager Guy Santagate.
Claremont sustained hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage from the storms that caused flash floods after several days of steady rain. There was substantial damage to Cat Hole Road, Washington Street, and parts of Old Newport Road. Some residents on Cat Hole Road were unable to get to their houses last Sunday when large sections of the pavement was eroded in the flooding. Story from the Eagle Times.
