Weekend flash floods overwhelmed drainage, creating sinkholes and tearing away sections of pavement throughout the city.
“The damage is extensive,” said City Manager Guy Santagate.
Work crews were out Sunday night and Monday working on Cat Hole Road, where the worst of the damage occurred. Flash floods hit the city late Friday afternoon, doing damage to culverts and pavement at Drapers Corner.
The rain kept up and a heavy downpour on Sunday afternoon did more damage at Cat Hole Road, Washington Street, and parts of Old Newport Road. Some residents on Cat Hole Road were unable to get to their houses on Sunday. This Story from the Eagle Times
