Local Masons Honor Soup Kitchen and Veterans

claremont soup ktchenWhile many of the Freemasons rituals are typically closed to the public, Claremont members of the ancient fraternity opened the confines of Hiram Lodge No. 9 on Saturday afternoon to honor some of its longest serving veterans, as well as award a local nonprofit for its work in the city.
Before a somber crowd of roughly 50 family members, well-wishers and honorees, the local Masons chapter presented the Community Builders Award to Jan Bunnell of the Claremont Soup Kitchen. Bunnell, who founded the kitchen three decades ago, was honored by Scott M. Ayen, the master of the Hiram Lodge in Claremont.
The lodge will annually honor an individual or organization for their outreach in the greater Claremont region and acknowledge their outstanding service. This article from the Eagle Times.
