VT and NH Homeless Vets To Get Home of Their Own

vetsTwenty homeless veterans living on streets and shelters in VT and NH and served by the VAMC in White River Junction will soon have a permanent home of their own. U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced on Thursday that HUD will provide $60 million to local public housing agenciesto provide permanent supportive housing to homeless veterans, many of whom are living with chronic disabling conditions. “It is unacceptable that even one Veteran who served their country is without a place to live. With programs like HUD-VASH, we will end veteran homelessness by 2015 in Vermont and New Hampshire one veteran at a time,” said Ms. Deborah Amdur, Director White River Junction VAMC.
