New Study Disputes Amount of Wasteful Spending in Medicare

medicareA new study released on Tuesday rebukes Dartmouth Atlas findings where uneven Medicare spending in the country is due to wasteful practices and over treatment. The Dartmouth findings influenced the federal health law and supported the idea that the spending variations could mean that nearly a third of Medicare spending may be unnecessary. The new study concludes that health differences in the US explain between 75 percent and 85 percent of the cost variations.
