Crash Ends High Pursuit Chase in VT

vtsp-ajasaroTwo North Adams MA men face charges after leading VT State police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car. Police say Shawn M. Tripodes 18, failed to stop for police while driving a 2008 Toyota. Tripodes accelerated his speed as he drove on Rt. 100 toward the MA border. After he failed to make a sharp curve, the car collided with several trees. Passenger Matthew Rodriques 18 stayed in the car, as Tripodes fled and led police on a seven-mile foot pursuit.
In addition to the stolen car, police found a variety of stolen gift cards, credit cards, a VT identification card with empty wallets inside the car.
Both men will appear in Windham Criminal Court on May 14. Tripodes will answer charges of DUI-Drugs, Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Grossly Negligent Operation, and Possession of Stolen Property. Rodriquez will answer a charge of Possession of Stolen Property
