Governor Shumlin Speaks on Less Taxes and Welfare Reform

shumlinGovernor Peter Shumlin spoke to the Springfield Regional Chamber and the Springfield Rotary Club yesterday and praised them for their efforts on reviving Springfield’s Downtown Area. Shumlin spoke about the state to their east and how Vermont cannot lose business to its neighbor because of the tax advantage. He noted Vermont no longer has sale tax on most clothing. An exemption that went into effect in March of 2012.
The governor went on how the state can do better with the money it has and not expand on its broad-base taxes. He also is looking to make welfare a temporary and not a timeless help to single mothers.
