Chief Resigns After AG Investigation

Police Chief David SeastrandNew London Police Chief David Seastrand’s resignation is effective immediately according to Town Manager Kim Hallquist. In a press release yesterday, Hallquist announced that due to an investigation by the State Attorney General’s Office, Seastrand said he would be unable to give his full focus to his duties until April 30 as when he announced his retirement on Monday.
Attorney General Michael Delaney said Police Chief David Seastrand resigned his position and permanently relinquished his certification as a police officer as part of a negotiated disposition. The disposition would close the case started on March 6 that alleges Seastrand offer to drop charges on the Colby Sawyer College Student of under age drinking and providing false information  if she let him take nude pictures of her.
