Contoocook Man Faces Charges After Pursuit Ends on I-89

image001A Contoocook man led Henniker Police and the New Hampshire State Police on a vehicular pursuit on Interstate 89 shortly before 10:30 am on Wednesday. Police say Lawrence Martell 34, was wanted for his involvement in a domestic violence, simple assault incident. It was reported that Martell was suicidal and armed with a knife prior to the start of the pursuit in Henniker. The chase ended in Hopkinton when State Troopers deployed a Stop Stick tire deflater on I-89.
Martell is charged with was charged with felony Reckless Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving and Disobeying an Officer. Martell is currently in Concord Hospital pending a psychological evaluation. He will appear in court on a later date.

    Nothing like HOT PURSUIT of a man reported as suicidal…
    That car-load of girls scouts coming the other way never in any danger.
    Neither was the minivan with a mom & 3 kids that may not see you coming.
    At 10:30am Wednesday the streets were well covered in snow & ice.
    A prolonged chase along those streets was OBVIOUSLY the only responsible course for a safety official to take.
    After all the man had a KNIFE!!!!!!
    Got to use those stop sticks finally…
