House Panel Wants 15 Cents Increase in Gas

gasOn Thursday, the Public Works and Highway Committee voted to increase the state’s gasoline tax by 83%. As amended, HB 617 would increase the state’s tax on gas from $0.18 per gallon to $0.33 per gallon, a 15-cent hike. The bill originally called for 12 cents per gallon increase plus raising a vehicle registration by $15.00.
Representative David Campbell (d) of Nashua is the sponsor of this bill. Co sponsors are; Representatives Richard Barry (r) of Merrimack, Patricia Lovejoy (d) of Stratham, Candace Bouchard (d) of Concord, Andrew Schmidt (d) of Grantham, Mark McConkey (r) of Freedom, and Bruce Tatro (d) of Swanzy. Two Senators also co sponsored the bill Senator David Watters (D) Dover and Senator David Pierce (D) of Claremont.
