VT Governor Shumlin Makes Inaugural a Fundraiser For Irene Victims

Peter Shumlin announced last Thursday, that he will host a free-to-the-public Inaugural Open House at the State House on Jan. 10, dedicating the event to fundraising efforts to help Vermont victims of Tropical Storm Irene. The Governor will greet the public in the House Chamber beginning at 4:30 p.m., and music and light refreshments.
“We still have Vermonters who need financial help with home repairs and other damage from one of the worst storms in the state’s history,” the Governor said.
Gov. Shumlin said people could donate at the Inaugural Open House, and purchase the Vermont Strong license plates (the plates cost $25 each, with 90 percent of the proceeds going to VDRF and 10 percent to the Vermont Food bank.
