About 25 people attended “Great Conversation” a meeting to discuss the future of Newport’s school facilities at Richards School last night. It was the first of six discussions taking place this year. Dr Sussman stressed tonight’s meeting was just the start of the conversation; no plans are in the works. Sussman also stressed the education of students is the first consideration.
Since the 2001-2002 school years, the population in K-3 has dropped on average about 40-50 students every 5 years. Talks about reorganizing the school buildings have been ongoing for several years.
