NH and VT Fugitive from Justice Arrested in Newbury VT

After months of alluding law enforcement, police arrested a 28-year-old Corinth VT man, a fugitive from justice wanted in NH and VT in Newbury VT on Tuesday. VT State Police say, they arrested Michael J. Hoehl of Corinth VT after a 2.5-mile car chase and a pursuit in the woods with a K-9 unit, Hoehl stopped and turned towards troopers displaying a handgun. Hoehl waved the gun around indicating the gun was loaded and the safety off and dared troopers to shoot him. Troopers negotiated with Hoehl for approximately one hour until he peacefully surrendered at 10 am without further incident.
Hoehl was arrested for Grand Larceny, Possession of Stolen Property, Burglary, Possession of Marijuana, Gross Negligent Operation, Attempting to Elude, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Operating Vehicle without Owner’s Consent, and Resisting Arrest. VT. Department of Probation and parole took Hoehl into custody and transported him to Northeast Correctional Complex. Members of the Orange County Sherriff’s Department and the Vermont Department of Liquor Control assisted with the incident.
