Newport Senior Killed in Pedestrian Accident

A Newport High School Senior, died after being struck by a vehicle, on RT 12 in Charleston shortly after 7 pm on Friday. Adam Pysz (pronounced pies) was with David Cummings 32, of Claremont trying to move the deer when Benjamin Watkins, 24, of Springfield, Vermont driving a Ford Ranger, struck them. Both men were transported to Valley Regional Hospital with critical injuries. Adam succumbed to his injuries and Cummings was Dart lifted to DHMC where his condition has improved.
Counselors will be on hand at Newport Schools today, Adams twin sisters Kennedy and Anna are in the 7th grade at Newport Middle School. Principal Linda Sutton said, “For many kids this is the first time, they know someone that died.”
Memorial donations may be made in Adam’s name to the Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield NH 03748.
