Newport Loses Icon and Role Model – Jesse Scott

Newport icon, and role model, Jesse Scott who turned 105 years old on Aug. 13 passed away early Sunday morning. He was the oldest living member of the 10th Mountain Division. Jesse entered the army at the age of 35 and served for 3 years during WWII. Jessie trained in Colorado and then went on to Italy.
Jessie Scott continued his service as a NH Conservation Officer for 31 years, served 3 terms as a state representative, a 50-year member of the Brewster, Gould, Lee, Rollins Post 25 American Legion and a member of the Free Masons for 60 years. Jesse still rode his four-wheeler at the age of 105.
On April 22, Senator Bob Odell, Rep Beverly Rodeschin and other state officials along with friends, relatives, American Legion members and colleagues gather to celebrate his many years of service to the US, State of NH, and Community at the Opera House in Newport.
