Fine Art Student One of Two Charged In Boxcar Painting

While police applaud Dow’s artistic talent, they do not approve of his choice of canvas

Two Hartford men are charged with Felony Unlawful Mischief after using boxcars at the White River Jct. Rail yard as canvas for their murals. Police say that Brian Dow 23 and Daniel Barmore 24 were found in the rail yard after they received a complaint of individuals painting on the boxcars. In addition to finding 90 cans of spray paint in Dow’s Mercedes they also found a pack back full of spray paint and rubber gloves. The men each had residue on their fingers.
Dow graduated from Johnson State College with a Batchelor Degree in fine Arts and took Advanced Painting three times.
Railroad officials say the rail yards use a scanner on the boxcars and it will not work when they are covered with graffiti. Total damages are estimated at $100,000, which includes the boxcars and various overpasses.
