Warning of Phone Scam by Manchester Police

Manchester Police are warning residents of a scam after receiving several complaints. Police say several people received calls by someone identifying themselves as a Manchester police officer, or Manchester Police Chief David Mara. They then attempt to collect money and threaten an arrest if they don’t make a payment on an outstanding loan. Two victims in the scam reported the caller ID displayed the business line number of the Manchester Police Department. Available smart phone applications allow a suspect to mask his phone number with another number.
Manchester Police want to warn residents about it and encourage anyone receiving similar calls to contact them.
