Report of Gunman Treated as Domestic Terrorism

Reports of a gunman on the way to Montpelier High School shortly before noon on Wednesday turned out to be false. However, Police Chief Anthony Farcos is treating the hoax as an act of domestic terrorism. The Chief reported, “An investigation revealed that the person or people responsible for the bogus alert are believed to be tied to a similar alert on April 5, at Montpelier High.” Chief Farcos contacted the FBI regarding Wednesday’s threat, noting the threats were coming from computer networks with a host of internet and landlines service providers in the US and overseas, tracked by the police in April. Montpelier High School and the MPD put emergency measures in place, which included a lock-down of the school which lasted about an hour.
