Memorial Ride Ends In Sorrow

Just before noon on Saturday, two people were killed and seven others injured during the Justin A. Rollins - Ride for the Fallen in Westmoreland NH on Saturday. NH State Police say, Robert Lockerby Age 87 of Walpole, NH crossed the double yellow line and struck a number of motorcycles.
Killed in the crash were riders Gary Champney, 59 of Alstead, Aaron Robar 41, of Newport both were guards in the ride, and members of the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club of Claremont.
Other motorcyclists injured in the accident were George Lathrup, age 55 of Claremont, Peter Franklin, age 45 of Newport,Mark Mason, age 56 of Newbury, Austin Aubin, age 62 of Charlestown NH and Ronald Butcher, age 51 of Springfield, NH.
Also injured was Sally Lockerby, age 87 of Walpole, NH who was a passenger in the car.
Two of the injured parties were airlifted, one to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worchester, the other to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The New Hampshire State Police Technical Accident Reconstruction Team closed RT 12 for approximately 7 hours and conducted on scene investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
