Former Owner of Chair Car Service Sentenced for Medicaid Fraud

A Hampton Falls man was sentenced late last week in Merrimack County Superior Court on two felony counts of theft for fraudulently billing the state for $375,000. Stephen MacInnes, former owner and operator of of Hampton NH fraudulently billed the state for 1,300 transports that did not take place and inflated mileage on over 2,600 legitimate transports.
On the first count, MacInnes received five to ten years at the New Hampshire State Prison with three years of the minimum suspended. For the second count, he received a consecutive state prison sentence of five to ten years, fully suspended, conditioned on good behavior and restitution to the State for $375,000, of which $130,000 was paid prior to sentencing.
Attorney General Delaney said, “Medicaid fraud is a crime that impacts every taxpayer and those who commit fraud against the program will be subject to criminal prosecution and full restitution will be sought.”
