Lurking Bear Lashes Grafton Woman

A bear attracted to the smells of a Grafton woman’s pot roast was on her porch hoping to get some food. At 10 pm on Saturday, Colburn went to let her dog out unaware of the lucking bear. The bear lashed out at Colburn, causing her to fall and receive injuries. Her mixed breed dog came to her defense, and attacked the bear. The dog was not injured. A neighbor drove the woman to the fire station. Grafton Fire Chief John Babiarz evaluated Colburn who was taken to the hospital where she was treated for minor lacerations to her arms, and released.
