Governor Lynch Vetoes Bill Banning Partial Birth Abortions

On Friday, Governor Lynch vetoed HB 1679 a bill, which requires a pregnant woman suffering from a lifetime threatening illness to be examined by a qualified physician and be examined by a second, non-affiliated physician to document that the mother’s life is endangered.

Lynch stated he felt the bill would put the mother’s life in danger with adding another examination. Lynch said he feels the Federal Law is enough and the added requirement could have serious consequences in emergencies. This is the third bill subject to an override on June 27.
