Concord Hospital Fined $205,000 for Hazardous Waste Violations

Attorney General Michael A. Delaney and Commissioner Thomas S. Burack of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services ( DES) announced the Merrimack County Superior Court approved a settlement between the State and Capital Regional Health Care Corporation a.k.a. Concord Hospital.

The State alleged that Concord Hospital failed to identify certain pharmaceutical wastes as hazardous wastes. Concord Hospital shipped the hazardous waste pharmaceuticals to facilities not authorized to accept the wastes.

Concord Hospital was assessed a penalty of $205,000 with $50,000 credited to the hospital if it provides free State-approved training relating to the management of pharmaceutical wastes to New Hampshire-based healthcare facilities. The hospital is to pay the balance to the State over several months.
