The University of NH is offering a chicken processing workshop on Saturday,
June 16 in Chichester, NH, directions to the farm and a confirmation letter will be sent after making reservations. Two workshops are offered 8:00 to 10:00 am and 11:00 am. to 1:00 p.m. Participants will learn best practices for care and processing of chickens raised in the backyard or small farm.
The workshop is operating under an approved protocol from the UNH Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and taught by Victor Huse, a third generation backyard livestock processing professional.
Youth may participate with written permission of parent or legal guardian. Register on-line at www.events.unh.edu.
The cost is $50.00 and covers expenses for hands on instruction, materials and live chicken.
Couples may share a chicken. Pre- registration and a $35.00 non-refundable deposit are required and the $15.00 balance is due on the day of the workshop. Space is strictly limited to 60 participants.
