Congressman Charles Bass Presents Navy Veteran Dennis Stanion with Medals

Navy Veteran and Newport resident, Dennis Stanion, lost his military medals, for his service in the Navy. Stanion went to Congressman Charles Bass for help in the matter.

“There is no better honor than for me to be here to help members of the military or those who served, it is one of the best parts of my job,” said the Congressman. “I was glad to help.”

The Congressman obtained replacement medals and a few which, Stanion received but they were never awarded.

Stanion enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and served in the Navy Reserves before becoming a Navy Seabees serving in Puerto Rico and Vietnam before retiring as a Petty Officer Second Class.

Congressman Charles Bass met with Stanion in his Newport NH office on May 22 and presented him with the following medals.
National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy “E” Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 device
